Sports do not build character. They reveal
it.
Many students strive to test their riding abilities and progress by competition. At Abingdon
Park we recognize the students that are physically and mentally ready to become show-ring competitors by asking them and their
families to join our show team.
Being on the team requires commitment and dedication by both the rider and their
family. Riders who are on the team can expect to compete at 8-10 shows per competition year, which runs from March through
November in most cases. Shows do carry a financial commitment, so be sure to discuss this with Julie!
Riders
who have been asked to be on the team should either own or be leasing a suitable horse. Lesson program horses are available
for the purpose of leasing for shows.
Also, in-barn and small schooling shows will be held about twice per year. These
shows are intended for the students to judge their progress and see what showing is all about. All lesson students are
encouraged to participate in these small, fun shows!
Show team students will work on hunter and equitation course
work and medal work off tests. They should expect to be taking two lessons per week at this level.
