"There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his
horse."

About Our Program
Assessment and Orientation
An assessment lesson may be held if you have ridden English in a formalized setting before, otherwise you
will start as a beginner rider. Assessment lessons are $65.
If you are a beginner rider, your first lesson
is FREE!
Students and parents are encouraged to come out and visit prior to the first lesson. Simply
call for an appointment!
Private and Group Lessons
Regular private lessons are 30 minutes and are $200 for four lessons or may be taken individually at $50 per lesson.
Once a student has achieved a skill level that enables him or her to ride independently off of the lunge line, he
or she may be placed in a group lesson. Group lessons are one hour and are $180 for four lessons or $45 per lesson.
Students
may stay in private lessons as long as they wish, or may stay in privates at the instructor's advisement.
All lessons
must be taken within the month paid for. Lessons will not carry over into the next month.
Lesson sessions begin
on the first of every month.
Extra lessons may be purchased at a rate of $50 per half hour private lesson, $65
per 45 min private lesson, $75 per hour private lesson and $45 per group lesson.
Age Requirements and Attire/Equipment
A child should be at least 6 years old to be considered for formal lessons. Adult students are accepted.
A
special lesson format is available for your 4 or 5 year old child, so please ask about it!
Students are required to
purchase jodphur pants and paddock boots if under 12 years of age. Students older than 12 may purchase breeches and tall
boots if they so choose.
Half chaps with jodphur pants or breeches are acceptable. Shorts and/or jeans with full
chaps are not acceptable attire for lessons.
All students must purchase an ASTM/SEI approved helmet, regardless
of age.
Time Involved
At Abingdon Park each student will learn horsemanship as well as riding. A period of 30 minutes both before and after
your actual riding lesson is required in order to properly take care of your horse and equipment.
